Edward E. Baptist is Associate Professor of History at Cornell University & author of the books The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism and Creating an Old South: Middle Florida’s Plantation Frontier Before the Civil War. A native of Durham, North Carolina, he holds a BSFS from Georgetown University and a PhD in History from the University of Pennsylvania.

This talk was part of the speaker series for the History 354D, Race: A World History, taught by Adrienne Lentz-Smith of Duke University.
